He had regular infomercials for both TV and radio on Hispanic stations, which are the equivalent of NBC and CBS. His radio programs were aired on Radio Wado and KQ - the predecessor of Mega, the largest Latin radio station in the world. Dr. Herold has a special affinity for the Dominican Republic, which stems from his wife’s heritage. She is a native of this beautiful country and as a result of their regular visits to the island came the initial campaign of mission work which brought ChiroMission to the Dominican Republic. Married to Sandra - they live with their two sons, Tommy and James in Westchester County where he runs Adjust Your Life Chiropractic Center in White Plains, NY.
ChiroMission- The Beginning Years by Dr. Todd Herold
The Creation of Something Wonderful: ChiroMisson co-founders:
Dr. JC Doornick, Dr. Todd Herold and Dr. Peter Morgan.

I was fortunate enough to marry a beautiful Dominican woman named Sandra in 1991. She was proud to introduce me to her homeland and while on a trip there, I was on the beach enjoying the crashing waves when I got blindsided by a huge one. It knocked me down and I stood up very Subluxated. My neck was killing me and my overall “tone” was not what it should’ve been. So, like most intelligent folks, I went looking for a local chiropractor. I opened the phone book and there wasn’t even a category for us. I went to the front desk to inquire about one and they looked at me like I’d spoken Chinese. They’d never heard of one before. Turns out, the entire island had neither law nor licensure pertaining to this marvelous profession- chiropractic!! I made myself a mental note that someday I would do something to change that.
So, in the early 2000s, my good friend and chiropractic colleague, Peter Morgan and I headed to Puerto Plata on the northern coast of the island of Hispaniola to check out the chiropractic lay of the land in the country of REPUBLICA DOMINICANA(better known to us as The Dominican Republic). There are over 6,000,000 inhabitants and at that time, not one single chiropractor!! Pete and I adjusted a few hundred folks. We also went to a very remote and breathtaking place…Las Cascadas de Inver. It was a series of waterfalls which you had to scale cliffs to get up and slide or jump off of to get back down…sort of like a water park on steroids, with guides. As we were doing this “challenge” I turned to Pete and very seriously commented to him, “Pete, if we don’t focus, right now, we could die out here today!” Being the adventurers that we are, when we got back to the hotel, Pete and I decided that chiropractors would love to go on a trip like the one we were experiencing. We dreamed up a seminar called, BREAKTHROUGH. Our friend, Dr. Brian Stenzler designed a beautiful flier for us. We invited everyone we knew…and one person came- another adventurer and friend of Pete, who I knew in passing. His name was JC Doornick, a fellow chiropractor. Well, we took JC into the jungle to the falls and we also all adjusted many folks who sorely needed it. We went back home feeling happy and fulfilled that we’d made a difference in the lives of others.
And then the magic began. JC came to Pete and I with a website he’d designed for an organization he called ChiroMission. We agreed that we needed to get a bunch of docs to go back with us and serve again. My wife and I had a babysitter we’d used in Puerto Plata on one of our many vacation trips there. I called her and she put me in contact with the “Mother Teresa” of DR…Sor Teodora Quezada…an amazing nun with energy abound. Sor organized locations and we showed up with a team of 7. We were off and running.
Since then, fast forward 6 years, these two things have happened. We tried expanding our mission work into Haiti. Pete headed up those missions and saw a HUGE need to serve that community. Then, he created a magnificent new organization; Mission-Chiropractic. Now, Pete leads Mission-Chiropractic and does missions all over the world including Trinidad, Cuba, Tibet, Ethiopia and more. Due to the recent catastrophic events which have occurred on the other side of the island of Hispaniola in the country of Haiti, Peter Morgan has lead a campaign to rescue the forgotten.
The second thing that happened is that JC and I have continued to make headway in DR. We now have regular missions set up there with the assistance of Sor Teodora and other community leaders. ChiroMisson has served almost 300,000 patients and raised almost $75,000 in cash and supplies for charitable works there. We have made inroads with both the political and educational communities in the hopes that one day, our ultimate goal will be realized- to set up a chiropractic school there so that the natives can have access to not only the study of chiropractic but, more importantly, have the ability to graduate and begin to permanently serve this glorious group of warm and caring people.
Where do we go from here? ChiroMission’s intention is to take this formula WORLD WIDE. This unique formula is different as we do not intend to just visit countries, rather, we intend to provide actual, repetitive potentials for change. We are now organizing trips to new locations with the help of Mission Leaders and dedicated individuals that have come to us out of thin air. On the table now is an initiative to the Caribbean Islands of St. Lucia and St. Vincent in the Grenadines. We are also working with other Not For Profit Organizations to expand into Asia via Australia. One of our most dedicated and appreciated leaders; Dr. John Palmer has started a new Not For Profit Organization called Third World Benefit. John’s passion to help the less fortunate in India has created an upcoming trip there where he will lead a team of 20. We eagerly await the constitution of his Not For Profit Status so we may create an official alliance with TWB and get to greater levels of service to humanity.
We are also now initiating new programs where we take entire corporations to locations to put them through the experience and allow them to serve. The creation of Humans Can Change is on the table in an effort to invite ALL INDIVIDUALS to approach and serve without labeling our efforts as a “Chiropractic Organization”. You see, we believe that everyone has a Super Power and has something they can use to serve the less fortunate and better humanity. Therefore, Humans Can Change will begin programs where Mothers, Fathers, Children, Spouses, and Couples can come and experience the joy of giving while obtaining the education on how to take “the Mission” anywhere in the world…including your own home and community.
The rest of the story is being written in real time. Would you like to help us write it with your service?
