Dr. Amy Beck

On every ChiroMission trip we observe one participant that truly makes a breakthrough and lifts the spirit of the entire team. Our award was named, "The Sundin Award," after Dr. Doreen Sundin, the originator of the award. She broke through her comfort zone and she got it. We can all learn something from those individuals who "Get It."

The Sundin Award

Dr. Amy Beck (First Year Graduate of Parker Chiropractic) | Winner of the October 2007 Sundin Award!

This was an interesting trip. After having almost 40 participants on the last trip the Dominican Republic was expecting us to handle more volume. However because of scheduling conflicts, we had a team of 17 this time. This did not change the demand for care. We had to take a hard look at our team and decide who could handle themselves in an intense situation.

Dr. Amy Beck was a quiet gal that had just graduated from Parker College. It was obvious that her heart was in the right place but also evident that she had limitations in her mind regarding the reality of seeing the volume that mission trips advertised. Well, this would be her test. We placed Dr. Amy by herself in a remote area with nothing but a guide that spoke no English and her hands. Amy went without one question or concern. She was obviously in the Zone and knew she was on a Mission. When she returned we were told she single-handedly saw almost 600 people. This is not something you can teach someone folks. She had this inside of her and didn't know it. In my opinion, she will never be the same. Amy. We thank you for embracing the true essence of ChiroMission and serving with your heart and not worrying about the small stuff. Those people needed someone to help them and we sent the right person. It is our honor to present you with the Sundin Award.

Eric Jaszewski

Eric Jaszewski (11th Quarter at Life University) | Winner of the March 2007 Sundin Award!

On our biggest trip to date there were alot of things that could have gotten in our way. Bad weather, hotel issues, pick-up issues etc, etc. It was quite apparent that there was something different about this trip. There was something lifting the doctors to heights we were not expecting to reach. It was the students from Life University. This group was special and they were hungry to help. They were all in love with chiropractic and they just "Got It." As we looked with our eyes, listened with our ears, and felt with our hearts this particular student stood out. Eric was in this for the right reasons and he was transformed into a a service machine. Whenever the call was there, without question, Eric had his hand up. When we asked the entire group at the end of the trip who deserved this prestigous award the vote was unanimous. The world needs more Chiropractors like this and it was an honor to have him in our ranks.

Doreen_Sundin

Dr. Doreen Sundin | Winner of the September 2006 Sundin Award!

On September 29th, 2006 the Chiromission team was on location at the Waterfall Challenge in the Jungle of Inver. While on this challenge the group was enjoying what has now become an absolutely amazing experience and something special happened. Throughout the challenge Dr. Doreen Sundin from Long Island New York was excited yet holding back from releasing and launching her body and soul off the cliff. The group rallied time and time again to help her break her fear of heights yet had no success. Doreen repetitively decided to opt out of the cliff jump and take the cascade ride to the base. At the climax and end of the adventure, everyone had jumped of the final cliff and things were rapping up from this amazing journey. As the group began to gear up for the 30 minute hike out of the jungle we noticed that Doreen was still perched up on cliff. She made a decision in her mind to conquer her demons and take the challenge.

Doreen embraced her new-found soul and went on to heal approximately 500 people in one and a half days during the mission. It was an extreme breakthrough to say the least. As a result, the board made an executive decision to create a new award called the "Sundin Award," which would - from that day forward - be given to the ChiroMission participant making the biggest breakthrough in their science, art and philosophy of chiropractic.

WILL YOU MAKE A BREAKTHROUGH IN 2010?
